30 Minutes can save you $300k

If you work in or near Santa Clarita California and your frustrated because your housing market is insane, read on.

It doesn't matter if you're a World War II Vet, Baby Boomer, Gen X, Gen Y, or a Rocket Scientist from the next generation; Benjamin Franklin stated, "A Penny Saved is a Penny Earned". What makes that so profound? Simple mathematics does, or at least it should. Here's why:

Santa Clarita Housing Costs
So you're sitting there on your lunch break eating your sandwich and you're looking at some magazine of townhouses: $485,000 with a two-car garage. The garage is on the bottom floor and the Townhouse is on the third. You're surrounded on all sides (it may include above) and your thinking, "There has got to be a better way!" Well, there is.

As you may note that the majority of commuters are those that travel 45 to 59 minutes each day to their place of employment, Ten Thousand One Hundred and Eighty Seven as was surveyed in the year 2005.

Plan A: Lancaster as an Option

Lancaster is 48.5 Miles from Santa Clarita on Highway 14 (State Route 14), but as it was more accurately stated in the Los Angeles Times:
Good news, bad news
The availability of affordable housing in Palmdale has made it a popular choice for Los Angeles workers. The problem? "The commute," said real estate agent Steve Burton of Keller Williams Realty in Palmdale. Commutes into L.A. can take two hours or more, depending on road conditions and traffic congestion. Construction and new development in Palmdale, Valencia and Santa Clarita have lengthened commute times. However, many Palmdale residents are still willing to inch along the 14 Freeway or spend rush hours aboard a Metrolink train. - By Alyson Pitarre, Special to The Times April 10, 2005

Or type in "Antelope Valley Commute on SR-14 to L.A." and thumb through the stories of this horrendous daily event.

Plan B: The Greater Frazier Park Area

Frazier Park is 47.9 Miles distance to Santa Clarita along the Beautiful Interstate 5 Freeway (4 Lanes; Rarely Traffic). Living in the Greater Frazier Park Area you now include in an approximate 65 Mile Radius:
  1. Bakersfield population 247,037; 37.4 miles away.
  2. Santa Clarita population 168,253; 47.9 miles away.
  3. Los Angeles population 3,694,820; 64.3 miles away.
  4. Tehachapi population 11,752; 65.5 miles away.
So Let's Review

If we can conclude that the housing cost is significantly less, in a community that is less than the average commuter's drive, would it be safe to say that this is, to this point; a missed opportunity? If you are truly a person who is seeking an opportunity than why is it that you have not explored the potential?
